2020 African Italian Women Forum
14 AND 28 NOVEMBER 2020 – TURIN AFRICAN ITALIAN FORUM
In 2020, the African Italian Forum proposed the first edition online, in accordance with the measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic. It focused on the resilience and protagonism of African/Italian at the time of the pandemic. The Forum was introduced by the authoritative intervention of the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re.
Aims of the Forum: In a year of large distances, the African/Italian Forum wanted to renew and strengthen links between women engaged in building a sustainable future, with the strength of diversity and the value of multicultural life. The area of meeting and comparison is widened by involving African women in diaspora in Italy and Europe, women in Africa and international business organisations.
Treated Themes: economy and work, health, environment and association where the themes proposed at a meeting and working tables to offer a looks on the current reality and to identify pathways of change, starting with the needs and potential of women, the most affected by the economic and social difficulties caused by the COVID-19.
The African/Italian Forum was realized with the contribution of the CRT Foundation as part of the project “Diaspora, Migration, civil Society. Formation, culture, Meeting and Communication on the issues of the protagonism of the migrant community” of the Piedmonts Center for African Studies (CSA), in partnership with CESPI and Collective African Women for Change. It was realized in collaboration with the Association of Women for the Defense of Civil Society, The Abele Group and with the support of numerous companies operating in the Piedmont Territory.

The COVID-19 pandemic has a disastrous impact on the economy, health and social life and highlights the role of women in the society today. The Saturday Forum of 14 November 2020 called on all women to a major awareness and joint reflection, inviting them to work in synergy to find collective solutions to a problem affecting humanity. On 28 November 2020, the work continued in online working tables, an open moment with the speakers to discuss the issues raised by the conference. The initiative identified, through joint work, some proposals to be proposed to the institutions as women.
